Meet our Family
Tina is originally from Killeen, TX where she grew up developing her gymnastic skills. Her childhood was spent at Gabrielle’s Gymnastics from the time she was 5years old until she graduated High school. Once she graduated she began her coaching career at this very same gym. She coached competitive gymnastics as well as pioneered Gabrielle’s first All-Star cheer team A year later she moved to San Antonio and coached competitive gymnastics at a gym in Bourne, TX. Life took Tina to Waco, TX where she began cheering and then to Wichita Falls, TX where she cheered for Midwestern State for 3 years. That is where her Love for cheer became a passion. Learning new stunts, performing at games, competing at NCA nationals, judging Jr. High and High school tryouts, and coaching a High school cheer team was something she couldn’t get enough of. After graduation she began a separate career but could not end her cheer passion. She choreographed routines for High school teams and continued coaching gymnastics periodically.
Tina and her family moved to Carthage in 2007 where she continued coaching tumble and competitive cheer. In 2013 The Marion’s felt God leading them to open Legacy Tumble & Cheer in Carthage in hopes of being able to provide a competitive cheer and tumble experience in a Christian atmosphere for Carthage and the surrounding areas. Tina is USASF certified levels 1-4 in stunts, basket tosses, and tumble. Her Goal is to develop the whole athlete. “I feel that Legacy should be a place where you develop lifelong friendships, tumble and cheer skills that push you to be your best, and that Christian coaches help you to grow in confidence develop you as a leader so that you will be able to use these skills for the rest of your life.
Kortlyn can truly say tumbling and cheer has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. She started tumbling at the early age of 3. She took classes in Carthage, where she met and practiced with the Panola College cheerleaders and her love for this blossomed. Shortly after, she began taking classes, where she joined the advanced power-tumbling USA team. At age 9, she won 8th in the Nation at the Jr. Olympics. She stopped competing in gymnastics when she became a Carthage Jr. High cheerleader. From then on, she pursued cheerleading. She cheered on two level 5 competition cheer teams. She continued competitive cheer until she was 17 years old. She also cheered for Carthage High School for four years. She was awarded UCA All-American Cheerleader two years in a row and then NCA All-American Cheerleader the next 2 years. She was also a part of the NCA Cheerleading Staff until she began cheering for college at Sam Houston State University. While cheering at SHSU, She competed in Daytona, FL. at NCA Collegiate Nationals where her team won 3rd place in the All-girl Division 1.
Cathy began learning gymnastics at age 3. She cheered in high school and was a Jr. Coach at a local gym. Cathy then went to nursing school and became a registered nurse in 2004. She was an ER nurse for 5 years before becoming a stay at home mom. Cathy is the mom of 4 children; ages 14, 12, 6 and 4. When her youngest began tumble at age 2 it reignited her love of cheer and tumble and she began coaching again at Legacy. This year she became USASF certified for level 1-3 in tumble and stunts. Cathy is now coaching several tumble classes and cheer teams and filling the role as team nurse.
Emily is originally from Gilmer, Tx. She has been tumbling and cheering for 16 years. Emily’s Cheer experience includes cheering in Gilmer for 5 years, competing on an open level 5 all-stars team, college cheer at Tyler Junior College as well as Midwestern State University. Emily has 9 years coaching experience and is USAG Safety Certified. Emily’s favorite part of coaching is the excitement on the athlete's face when they get a new skill.
Joanna is originally from Center, TX. She and her husband, Blake, and their two children, Hadlee and Reese, currently live in De Berry. Joanna has had a passion for gymnastics, tumble and cheer for a very long time. She grew up in the world of competitive gymnastics in the Brenham/College Station area, then after moving back to East Texas, spent the rest of her school years as a cheerleader and coach at a local gym. Joanna has over 10 years of coaching experience in tumble and cheer, and has coached school cheer for 5 years, 4 of which were at Carthage High School.
